What to expect from individual coaching with Jenny
Our introductory call will identify the issues you want support with. Individual coaching can help with many different issues, such as:
- Life transitions, including starting a new job or a new role, losing a job or returning to work
- Planning personal and professional development
- Experiencing stress
- Dealing with conflict in relationships and managing difficult situations
- Overcoming imposter syndrome, perfectionism and/or procrastination
- Finding it difficult to feel motivated
- Managing organisational change
If you decide you want to work with me, we will then book a session which will involve ‘contracting’ for our work together. This involves identifying specific goals that you wish to work on, the number and duration of sessions (usually sessions run for 1 hour and coaching typically involves approximately 5 – 7 sessions although sometimes one session is all that’s needed when working with a very specific goal). We will agree the types of coaching approaches that might be useful for you to try out and what would be involved, and set out ways of working together.
The overall aim of coaching is to support you in using a wide range of techniques and resources so that you can become your ‘own coach’ as we come to the end of our work together.
Our sessions will then involve working on your specific goal(s) using a range of different techniques which may involve solution focused coaching, cognitive behavioural coaching and positive psychology coaching. As coaching involves trying out new approaches and practising new skills it is likely there will be tasks to undertake between sessions. At each stage we’ll review your progress to identify which approaches and techniques are working best for you.
If at any stage, I believe that I do not have the skills to help you with a particular goal, I will always discuss this with you and suggest a referral to another specialist.
